WHY SAMPATTI LEGAL
What a dedicated practice
offers to your family
Inheritance work benefits from a different kind of legal relationship — one measured not in billable hours but in clarity, patience, and written records.
Back to HomeCore advantages
A summary of what distinguishes Sampatti Legal from general legal practice in the area of succession and estate work.
Single-area focus
We work only in inheritance and estate matters. This means a family coming to us receives advice from practitioners who spend every working day in this area of law, not from generalists handling it alongside unrelated commercial work.
Written deliverables
Every service produces a document the client keeps. The inventory, the review report, the administration progress notes — all are produced in writing and given to the family without any requirement to return to the office to view them.
Fixed, stated fees
Each service has a published price. There is no hourly billing model, no time-recording that generates unexpected invoices, and no cost added after the engagement letter has been signed without the client's prior agreement.
English and Thai service
Work is conducted in both languages and all written reports are produced in the language most useful to the client and their family, including foreign nationals navigating the Thai legal system for the first time.
Direct practitioner contact
Clients have a direct point of contact — a practitioner who is responsible for their matter and who can be reached without passing through an intermediary. Responses to written enquiries are sent within two working days.
Revisable documents
Inventories and succession reviews are designed to be updated. If circumstances change — a new property, a change in family structure, a revised arrangement — we can revise the document rather than starting over.
Expertise in Thai succession law
Thailand's Civil and Commercial Code sets out a specific framework for the passing of assets on death — one that differs meaningfully from the systems used in Western Europe, the United States, and Australia. Families with property in Thailand, whether Thai nationals or foreign nationals, need advice from practitioners who work within this framework daily.
Our practitioners understand the interaction between statutory succession, will-based succession, and the practical constraints that apply to specific asset types — including land held under Chanote title, condominium units, and company shares. This understanding shapes every written assessment we produce.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AREAS
- Thai Civil and Commercial Code — Books V and VI
- Statutory heir order and will formation requirements
- Land Department procedures for title transfer on death
- Condominium Act provisions for foreign-held units
- Court-appointed administrator procedures
- PDPA-compliant data handling throughout the matter
HOW THE PROCESS WORKS
- 01Initial enquiry — no commitment, no cost
- 02Written engagement letter confirming scope and fee
- 03Structured conversation and document review
- 04Preparation and senior review of written report
- 05Delivery to client with explanation of findings
- 06File retained for future revisions if needed
A process designed for families
Most legal processes are designed around the rhythm of transactions — quick meetings, standard forms, a swift conclusion. Inheritance work rarely fits that model. Families often need time to locate documents, to consult with each other, and to consider whether the picture they are presented with reflects what they intended.
Our process is structured to accommodate this. There are no arbitrary deadlines, no pressure to move to the next stage before the family is ready, and no assumption that a single visit is sufficient to capture the full picture of a family's assets.
Service and communication standards
We recognise that clients dealing with inheritance matters are often also managing significant family circumstances — grief, disagreement, uncertainty about the future. The quality of communication matters in these situations as much as the quality of the legal work itself.
We respond to written enquiries within two working days. We do not issue surprise invoices. We provide a written record of everything that is agreed and everything that is done. And when matters take longer than expected, we let the client know in advance rather than after the fact.
OUR COMMITMENTS
- Written engagement letter before any work begins
- Written response to all enquiries within two working days
- No cost added after engagement without prior agreement
- All documents reviewed by a senior practitioner
- Client retains copy of all documents produced
- Matters may be paused at client request without penalty

What sets us apart
Distinctive features of our approach that are not commonly found in general legal practice.
The Ledger Method
Our asset inventory is structured as a working ledger — a format families can read, annotate, and return to over time. It is not a legal instrument, but a living reference document that grows with the family's understanding of their own estate.
Beneficiary communication included
In multi-asset estate administration, we communicate directly with beneficiaries at each meaningful stage of the work, producing written progress notes they can read at home. No beneficiary needs to visit our office to remain informed.
Cross-border experience
A meaningful portion of our work involves estates with an international dimension — assets in more than one country, or beneficiaries resident abroad. We have experience coordinating the Thai side of these matters with legal advisors in other jurisdictions.
No commitment initial assessment
We offer a brief initial assessment of your situation without charge. This gives families enough of a picture to decide whether formal engagement is the right next step, without any obligation to proceed.
